Initial visit and Consultation   During the initial visit I look at the site and discuss your requirements, the style of garden you would like, problem areas, your budget and the amount of time you have available for gardening. I will then be able to give you a quotation for the design work or, in the case of larger projects, a quotation for the first stage of the design.   Outline Plan

Site Survey   An accurate survey of the existing site is needed before any design work can start. I familiarise myself with your garden, noting views, features to be retained, slopes and levels, soil type and prevailing winds. I measure smaller gardens myself but larger or more complex sites require the services of a land surveyor.

Outline Plan   An outline plan is prepared showing landscape features, hard landscaping and planted areas. This plan may be all that you require if you want to tackle a smaller project yourself. For larger projects, the outline plan allows me to present my ideas and talk through any other options or solutions to particular issues that may exist.

Layout Plan and Construction Plans   The final Layout Plan incorporates changes agreed with you and is the plan from which a contractor can estimate costs and build the garden. A Setting Out Plan giving detailed measurements and Construction Details of specific features such as ponds, retaining structures or hard surfaces may also be required and will be provided with the Layout Plan.

Planting Plan   The Planting Plan shows the position and quantity of all the plants in the design. Some clients prefer ‘instant’ gardens using large specimen plants while others prefer to allow their gardens to mature over time. Your preference (and budget) will be discussed at the outset.

Construction of the garden   If you do not want to tackle the project yourself or have no contractor of your own, I can suggest local landscaping contractors with whom I have worked in the past.

Project monitoring   In order to ensure a satisfactory outcome I am available to monitor the progress of a project.

Planting   Once the garden has been built I am able to source, supply and set out the new plants and organise the planting. I can also recommend local gardeners who may be able to help with the maintenance of your new garden.
